I first push the copper pipe through the tee.
After marking the midpoint of the wood dowel, I insert it into the pipe almost all the way.
Then I put the other copper pipe over the wood dowel and slide the dowel until I see the midpoint mark made earlier.
Note you can also clearly see the 1/4 inch gap cut in the PVC tee that facilitates squeezing it around the boom.
