I got lucky with this hole. The bit used was simply the wrong type for metal and I didn’t catch it in time. I’m omitting details out of outright embarrassment. Fortunately, the hole, as scrappy as it is, was plenty good enough for this install.
If you know a way to make better holes, do it. If you don’t, seek advice from a machinist or metal worker.
